Helping RVers Stay Connected
HamRadioRVing.org brings together two great passions—amateur radio and RV travel. Whether you’re a weekend camper, seasonal traveler, or full-time RVer, you’ll find practical help for staying connected wherever the road takes you.
Our mission is simple: to provide practical, easy-to-understand information that helps RVers build reliable ham radio stations, choose the right equipment, install antennas, power their stations with solar, and enjoy operating from campgrounds, state parks, and national parks throughout North America.
Here you’ll find beginner guides, buying guides, product reviews, installation tips, operating advice, and helpful resources based on real-world experience, careful research, and a passion for both amateur radio and RVing.
We believe amateur radio is much more than a hobby. It’s a way to stay connected with family and friends, meet fellow operators around the world, provide communications during emergencies, and make every RV adventure even more enjoyable.
Whether you’re studying for your first amateur radio license or have been on the air for decades, we hope you’ll find valuable information that helps you enjoy the hobby even more.
Meet Marvin Nash, KN6YEH
I’m Marvin Nash, KN6YEH, founder of HamRadioRVing.org. Before retiring, I worked as an electronic technician and served 17 years in the fire service, including about 10 years as a Fire Captain. That experience shaped my practical approach to reliable communications and emergency preparedness.
I earned my Technician Class Amateur Radio License on January 13, 2023, and upgraded to General Class on January 27, 2025. Since then, I’ve enjoyed learning about every aspect of amateur radio, with a special interest in operating from RVs while traveling.
One of the biggest influences on my amateur radio journey has been the Menifee Valley Amateur Radio Club (MVARC). I joined the club to learn from experienced operators and quickly discovered a welcoming community willing to share their knowledge and experience.
Today, I’m proud to serve as one of the volunteer webmasters for the club’s website, mvarc.radio. Working with the club has allowed me to combine my interests in web design, technology, and amateur radio while giving back to a community that has taught me so much.
The knowledge, encouragement, and friendships I’ve gained through MVARC have made me a more confident amateur radio operator, especially when it comes to mobile and portable operating from an RV. Those experiences inspired me to create HamRadioRVing.org so I could share what I’ve learned and help other RVers enjoy this amazing hobby.
My goal is simple: to provide honest equipment reviews, practical installation guides, buying advice, operating tips, and easy-to-follow tutorials that help amateur radio operators stay connected wherever their travels take them.
Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been licensed for many years, I hope this website becomes a trusted resource for your ham radio adventures.
